He says: "As a kid, I was always fascinated by the drums when I first saw my dad's friend playing his.听At that young age, I asked him to teach me a beat and from there I carried on and taught myself.

"Later on in life, I found myself meeting up with other kindred spirits and forming a band, until I eventually moved on to college to join a music performance course.听I found that whenever I was playing an instrument, I could escape from the world. Because of this feeling, I became really passionate about music and spent a long time developing my craft.

"During my time there, I expanded my skills and started singing, playing the guitar and piano. Just about any instrument I could get my hands on was interesting to me and there were great teachers around willing to show me what was possible. I decided to continue my education at the Bristol Institute of Modern Music.

"When I graduated, I realised that although I had all this education, I really hadn't experienced music from around the world so I took this time to travel. Travel taught me to be more independent and showed me how the world sees me as a person. Through this, I captured my thoughts in music, took my guitar on a trip to France to work during the ski season and started to write new material."

Since then, Olly has visited places such as Australia, Thailand and Ibiza and intends on returning to help his dad conduct business in India!听

Festivals

Festivals
This week, we're live from two festivals:听First up - Upton Jazz.

Last year's event had to be stripped back to basics because of falling visitor numbers.

Rachel Hayward has been appointed Music Director for the Festival in 2014.

Her remit is to help shape the event, engage with the bands and to maintain our traditions whilst bringing in new ideas.

From a New Orleans background, Rachel has played amongst the very best players on the British jazz scene for over 30 years.

She ran the Bude Jazz Festival for a number of years, and she now brings together her experience and love of music along with her exceptional organising skills as our Music Director for the Upton Jazz.

We're also at the Upton FAB Festival.

Normally we wouldn't include a food and beer festival in this guide as the focus is on, errr, food and beer - but the music is taking place outdoors on more than one stage.

are running the second stage, which is showcasing some of the best up-and-coming talent from around the country, including several Worcester acts.

Many of my acts have played (or are playing) festivals such as Kendal Calling, The Great Escape, Liverpool Sound City, Dot to Dot Festival, Isle of Wight and many more.

"It's a great opportunity for the local Worcester acts to get to know new acts from other areas who are doing well and making waves.

"It's also a great opportunity for local music lovers to discover great talent from all over the UK."

大象传媒 Introducing at Glastonbury

大象传媒 Introducing at Glastonbury
大象传媒 Introducing is back once again at Glastonbury this year, showcasing some of the best up-and-coming talent from across the UK.

Last year, George Ezra and Jake Bugg were the big discoveries - and it's also been the place where acts such the Ting Tings and Florence & The Machine were discovered.

Get ready to blow away the cobwebs, as not many people know how to rock like Bromsgrove's Virgil & The Accelerators do!

This band have been all over Europe with big name acts such as Uriah Heep, Wilko Johnson, Joanne Shaw Taylor and Mick Ralphs from Mott The Hoople.

Their debut album got onto the Classic Rock magazine high priority playlist and was included in their best songs of the year.

Brothers Virgil and Gabriel relocated from South Africa at an early age and after finishing their education turned music into their full time career.

The Wychwood Festival

The Wychwood Festival
This year the Wychwood Festival on Cheltenham Racecourse celebrated its 10th anniversary - and once again 大象传媒 Hereford & Worcester was there!

We took over the 大象传媒 tent, on the Friday, and showcased some of our favourite acts in the area right now - including Sasha McVeigh, Virgil & The Accelerators, Olly Gardiner, The Misers, Jasper In The Company Of Others, Boy & Bicycle, Steve Attridge & The Sleeping Giants, Dave Onions and The Stiff Joints.

A variety of these sessions will be broadcast throughout June and the early part of July here on the Introducing show.

Toyah

Toyah
She had a string of hits in the eighties alongside an acting career.

Next month Pershore's Toyah Wilcox is taking to the stage with hundreds of singers from Worcestershire for a big concert at Birmingham's Symphony Hall.

They'll also be joined many other members of the Rock Choir groups across the Midlands - with the idea of raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust in memory of the late charity campaigner, Stephen Sutton.

Rehearsals are well underway - and Toyah herself turned up to sing during last week's at Pitmaston Primary School in Worcester.
