Crime suspects may 'reveal guilt through eye movements'
Crime suspects could be given away by their eye movements, new research by the University of Nottingham Trent suggests.
Participants in the project were shown this video of a mocked up murder incident, and monitored with eye tracking technology to see if they looked at the weapon, an action described as 鈥渨eapon focus鈥.
鈥淲e are looking at what people with guilty knowledge of a crime look at in the particular scene...Using quite expensive eye tracking equipment to monitor exactly where they are looking when we present images and text to guilty subjects,鈥 said David Crundall, a professor of psychology at Nottingham Trent University.
