The Amateurs' 大象传媒 Introducing session
The Amateurs' 大象传媒 Introducing session
A 2004 demo by The Amateurs attracted the attention of MAS Records, a local record company concentrating on exposure for local talent.
The band soon ran out of avenues in Kidderminster and had their sights on London.
After recording the demo 'Let the Sun Shine In', The Amateurs concentrated on booking gigs and getting their name further a-field.
In June 2006, after being together as a three piece for two years, the band recruited Rich Oliver to join on lead guitar, just in time for the Midlands Regional Final of the Emergenza Unsigned Band of the Year Competition.
The Amateurs won the Regional Final and went on to play the UK Final in the July, in London.
In 2007 the band returned to the studio, this time with Jon Cotton (Scott Matthews, Passing Stranger 2005) to record 'Shoot Me Now', a song that was named winner of Best Unsigned Song 2007.
The band went on to support The Guillemots.
2008 saw The Amateurs play a standout set at Guilfest, do a sponsorship agreement with Jagermeister, support Cage The Elephant at Festibull and become the hot tip for 2009.
They were also chosen by Oxjam to play the Leeds Festival.
