National Trust 'not just for middle classes'
The National Trust has more than four million paid-up members, and 21 million people paid to visit a NT property in 2014.
The trust has now published its ten-year plan with a focus on buying more land and less property, as well as making its houses more relevant and less stuffy.
Its own figures show three-quarters of visitors are from the three highest socio-economic groups, compared with just over half of the overall population.
Director general Dame Helen Ghosh told 5 live she does worry about attracting a wider range of visitors, but said some of its sites have been able to achieve this.
