Children's Health, Ramadan and Waterloo
Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.
There's been a massive increase in the number of toddlers in Leicester being rushed to hospital. 大象传媒 Radio Leicester has found that there were more than 14-thousand A&E attendances by nought to 4-year olds in the last year. That's 4500 more cases of children going to accident and emergency than just a few years ago. The figures come from Public Health England, and it shows that the rate of these hospital admissions for this age group is also higher than the national average. Muslims across Leicestershire and Rutland are being urged to stay healthy, as they mark Ramadan. As part of the holy month, they're expected to fast between dawn and dusk - which is particularly difficult during the long summer days. Now the local Clinical Commissioning Groups are calling on those taking part with health issues to consult with their doctors first. As we celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Waterloo, we'll learn more about six men from Earl Shilton who risked their lives in that battle.
