Hinckley Crescent Project, Milk Prices and VJ Memories.
Martin Ballard sits in alongside Jo to start your day with the latest news and updates.
People in Hinckley are being assured the town's 80-million pound Crescent Project will be completed by the start of November. Work on the development - which includes a new cinema multiplex and supermarket - got under way last June. It followed years of doubt that the project would even begin- with a number of delays and a series of problems with money and designs. Now though, with just three months until completion, it's hoped the regeneration project will give the town's economy a massive boost. Farming leaders will meet with bosses at Morrisons supermarket later, as the milk pricing row continues. It follows protests by dairy farmers who say their livelihoods are under threat. They've been demonstrating at supermarkets and emptying shelves of milk. This week we're hearing your memories of VJ Day back in August 1945, when the Second World War finally ended. Many soldiers from Leicestershire and Rutland were still being held in the far east as prisoners of war.
Harold Smalley from Whitwick was one of them. He'd joined the Leicestershire regiment...and now at 100 years old, he's been talking to 大象传媒 Radio Leicester's Bridget Blair about his experiences.
