Proposals to pedestrianise another busy road in Leicester have been described as "extremely problematic" and a "half baked" idea by a Councillor for the area. It comes as Leicester City Council says it's discussing the idea of introducing a shared space on University Road with the University of Leicester. The University had outlined plans to alleviate traffic there in a document released in 2008, which it says, was widely published. But now Councillor Patrick Kitterick says he understands that an experimental road closure might happen this October. A group calling itself 'The People's NHS' has put up dozens of placards on people's front gates and fences. The group is raising concerns about something called the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. This partnership - known as T-TIP for short - is basically a series of trade negotiations between the US and the EU. Campaigners are worried this deal will effectively open up the NHS to American companies, leading to the possible privatisation of the health service.
