People in Leicester say they're seeing more beggars on the streets, despite a campaign by the authorities to reduce the problem.
Last year, the Local Authority and Leicestershire Police began a new scheme working with homeless charities to steer people away from begging. Their goal was to offer support to those who needed it. But more than 12 months on, it seems that members of the public still see it as a big issue.
Sheep farmers in Leicestershire say they're increasingly worried that their animals will be stolen. It comes as a study reveals that over the past year, almost 8 thousand sheep were taken from farms across the Midlands - up by around a thousand on the year before. Despite the Leicestershire force only receiving reports of 27 stolen sheep in that time, farmers are getting more and more anxious.
recently events have been held here in Leicestershire and Rutland and up and down the country to mark the 70th anniversary of VJ - or Victory in Japan - Day. It of course marked the end of World War Two. Many veterans shared their experiences, but for some the memories of what they went through remain difficult to share. 93-year old Maurice Naylor told 大象传媒 Radio Leicester he was told never to speak of his experience as a prisoner of war to his family, and it was only many years later that he began to. That struck a chord with listener Carol Pearson, from Leicester. Her father, Ernie Thrower died two years ago aged 92, and it was only after his death that she found out he'd written notes about his war time experiences.
