Libraries, Jubilee Square and a Dog in a Dress
Monica Winfield sits in alongside Jim to start your day with the latest news and updates.
Unions representing staff at Leicester City Council are concerned at plans by the authority to reorganise library services - including the possible closure of some branches and loss of jobs. Unison has written to the Council arguing that the so-called 'Neighbourhood Services Review' is unsustainable, and that proposing to change staff's job titles and downgrade their pay - which as a result will impact pensions - is completely unfair. The City Council says it has no plans to close any libraries, but in the face of governments cuts is looking to merge some of its services.
Calls are growing for something to be done about the traffic on Leicester's Jubilee Square. The so called "shared space" has been particularly busy over the last week, as the city festival has got underway with a number of activities. But many are still unaware of the rules, and there have been a number of near misses.
Also, lots of people have a love of fashion - but how many of you can say the same of your pets? One couple in Leicester have laid claim to having the best dressed dog. Ness is a Patterdale and sausage dog cross, who loves dressing up as much as anybody else!
