Rare Diseases
Dr Chetna Kang and Louisa Peacock ask what life is like living with a rare disease.
There are between 6,000 and 8,000 known rare diseases which, together, affect around 3 million people in the UK.
Until recently there was no plan in place to tackle them. But in 2013 the government launched it's rare disease strategy to improve the way people with these conditions are treated.
This week we'll speak to people with rare conditions and meet parents who care for children with them.
And we'll hear from one of the UK's leading rare disease specialists.
