Modi, Taxis & Children In Need
Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.
Excitement is building among our local Indian community here this morning as many of them prepare to hit the road to Wembley. Why? To give a rock-star welcome, we're told, to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He's currently here on a three-day visit. Today is Day Two. Yesterday was spent meeting the Queen, David Cameron and other dignitaries in Westminster. Today it's all about the people - more than 60,000 of them flocking to Wembley Stadium this evening for a firework spectacular.
Also, there could be travel disruption in parts of Leicester city centre this evening - as taxi drivers stage a "go slow" in protest at a new points scheme. The RMT Union says the pilot - where drivers are given points if they break any of 10 listed offences - an "unfair punishment" which could "threaten livelihoods." The breaches include parking on yellow lines and not wearing badges. If 12 points are collected in 3 years, the cabbies could lose their licence.
And, it's Children In Need. We hear where some of your money is being spent, right hear in Leicestershire.
