University of Leicester NHS Trust has admitted a baby girl from Leicestershire who died at just two days old would have survived if her mother had been given a caesarean section sooner. Delilah Hubbard died on 9 March in the neonatal unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary, and the trust has admitted making a series of mistakes that led to her death.
Also, Hormone Replacement Therapy should be offered to more women suffering the effects of the menopause, according to new medical guidelines. The advice, which is the first of its kind to be published by the health watchdog, NICE, says HRT should be offered to more patients, as long as they've discussed the benefits and risks with their GP. The study also shows however that women and doctors have "lost confidence" in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) as a possible treatment for the menopause.
And, do you like to whistle your favourite tune as you head into work? What about as you head to the kitchen for a well-earned cuppa, or to relieve the stress as you wait in yet another rush-hour traffic jam? Well - the number of us doing it is apparently on the decline. According to a poll by Yougov, 87 per cent of over 60s say they aren't hearing whistling as much as they used to. And it's clearly a generation issue, as nearly half of under 18-25's say they find it annoying. We meet a woman who is trying to keep the tradition alive.
