A&E, Petrol Prices & a Leicestershire Trench

Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.

A record number of patients attended Leicester Royal Infirmary's Accident and Emergency Department last week.

4,782 people went to the A&E for treatment, which is 70 more than the hospital usually sees every day. This saw a 13% rise compared to this time last year!
So why are the figures so high? We sent our reporter, Helen McCarthy, to find out more.

How heavier would your purse be this Christmas if the price of petrol and diesel dropped considerably?

Well, we'll look at how the RAC has predicted that pump prices for petrol and diesel prices will fall below a pound a litre by Christmas. The wholesale price for oil has been falling and there's pressure on retailers to pass on savings to customers during the festive season.
The oil price has been in long term decline for more than a year and that trend is now accelerating. The price of Brent crude oil has fallen by almost ten percent in the last week alone and that looks set to continue.

And we're becoming rather famous for discoveries. You only have to think of Richard III.

But this time we've stumbled upon a World Ward 1 trench in Wigston!

So, when 大象传媒 Radio Leicester's Dave Andrews called in at the County Records Office last week he asked Senior Archivist, Robin Jenkins, to explain what it was and how it is helping youngsters in the community.
