Race Relations, Good Neighbours & Panto Diaries

Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.

Today is the the 50th Anniversary of the race relations act.

Introduced in 1965, it banned discrimination on the grounds of colour, race or ethnic or national origins. But half a century on, how do you feel about race relations?
Well according to a 大象传媒 poll, thousands of people in the UK think that racism has increased in the last couple of years - and we find out more in today's programme.

How well do you know, or get on with your neighbours?

Well, modern life means there are so many distractions and reasons why we can't, won't or don't get to know those who live closest to us!
The reality is though that we all can spare a few moments to forge better connections with those around us. Relationships and friendships are formed and grow stronger and communities become more cohesive - all of this, just from saying hello!
This Christmas, we're asking you to say hello to a neighbour. They're not necessarily your dearest but they are certainly your nearest!

So, let us know if you have been a #GoodNeighbour this Christmas!

Yes it's Panto time, and once again, 大象传媒 Radio Leicester's Martin Ballard is putting on a frock to get into character.

This year he's playing the dame in this year's production of Snow White at the De Montfort Hall. Also starring in the show is Sherrie Hewson, star of Benidorm and Loose Women - plus Britain's Got Talent finalist Jon Clegg and CBeebies' megastar Justin Fletcher who appears in a pre-recorded video.
And Martin Ballard takes us on a special look behind the scenes...
