Ambulance Service, A Christmas Single & Helping The Homeless
Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.
A man from Leicester has told us he thought he might die during a 5 hour wait for treatment at the city's Royal Infirmary following a heart attack. The hospital recently registered a record number of emergency admissions for one week, while East Midlands Ambulance Service says it's growing increasingly frustrated at how long it's having to wait to hand over patients. Bob Young experienced that wait just over a week ago, and has been telling 大象传媒 Radio Leicester's Bridget Blair his story.
Also, Slade, Band Aid, the Spice Girls! Christmas has had some epic number one's through the years, and now a choir - made up of junior doctors and other NHS staff - are hoping to top the charts with their own single! The National Health Singers are hot contenders for this year's Christmas number 1 with 'Yours' - a song they wrote to warn the public against the demise of the NHS. Junior doctor Alexander Lai from Leicester, has been performing with the group for the past six weeks.
And, most of you will be spending Christmas with the family this year, but a new report claims a quarter of homeless people will celebrate the day alone. The charity - Crisis - has published the results of their new survey as they prepare to open a series of Christmas shelters across the country.
