We go behind the scenes during the making of Shaun Keaveny's Christmas Song - Please Don't Get Me Anything for Christmas.
In a coming together of musical minds, the legendary Rod Stewart has recorded vocals for a Christmas song written by 大象传媒 Radio 6 Music鈥檚 breakfast show presenter, Shaun Keaveny. The track, entitled 鈥楶lease Don鈥檛 Get Me Anything for Christmas鈥, is availble as a free download from 8am on Wednesday 9 December.
The track features Shaun in suitably festive form on vocals alongside Rod. Former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler plays guitar, with friend-of-the-show Level 42鈥檚 Mark King on bass. From 6 Music, former Menswear drummer Matt Everitt makes his long-awaited comeback, Early Breakfast presenter Chris Hawkins is inspirational on sleigh bells, and the 6 Music Choir are like an angelic chorus on backing vocals. Grammy and Brit award-winning record producer, Steve Levine - known for his work with the Beach Boys and Culture Club 鈥 has produced the track in his Liverpool-based studio.
The idea came about way back in November when Rod Stewart was interviewed by Shaun in his Breakfast Show. The presenter mentioned that he鈥檇 an idea of penning a Christmas song with a 鈥淩od Stewart-style vocal鈥. The two-time rock 鈥榥鈥 roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy Living Legend Award winner persuaded Shaun that he should write the track and send it his way... Inspired, Shaun then created his masterpiece and set about orchestrating the all-star line up to get involved.
