Bradgate Park, Flood Volunteers & Floodlights
Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.
Dog walkers at a Leicestershire country park are being reminded to pick up their bags of dog muck - for the safety of other wildlife. Rangers at Bradgate Park say a number of deer have fallen ill, after eating the bags. It comes after a number of warning to dog owners in the summer, to stop their pets chasing deer in the park. 大象传媒 Radio Leicester's Helen McCarthy is there for us this morning.
Also, you can't have missed the scenes of devastation caused by flooding in the North of England over Christmas. But among those who've been helping in the clean up are a number of volunteers from here in Leicestershire and Rutland. 大象传媒 Radio Leicester's Jo Hollis has been speaking to one group of men, who have travelled up several times.
And, plans for six new floodlights at the home of Leicestershire County Cricket Club could get the go-ahead this evening. The City Council's Planning and Development Control Committee will consider the club's application for the lights at Grace Road, which will be mounted on columns 40 metres high. Wasim Khan is Chief Executive at the club. He's told 大象传媒 Radio Leicester that most people living in the area are in favour of the floodlights. But not everyone has welcomed the prospect of floodlights at the ground... So far, there have been ten formal objections to the plans. Our reporter Christian Hill has been speaking to some of those people living closest to the ground.
Also in the show, BAFTA's Rising Star nominees, the latest on proposed fire cuts and Lemmy's heavy metal.
