UCS hoping for independence this year
University Campus Suffolk (UCS) says becoming independent from the universities of Essex and East Anglia will provide new opportunities for people to get degrees, and bring prosperity to the region.
UCS, which opened its main campus on the waterfront in Ipswich in 2008, is hoping that it will gain independence by the end of 2016 and in future be known as the University of Suffolk.
Its first graduation ceremonies were held at the Town Hall in Ipswich town centre in October 2010.
