Ron Dennis: McLaren will be world champions
McLaren chairman Ron Dennis believes that, once Mercedes win this year’s title, his team will be the next Formula 1 world championship winners.
The team are currently ninth in the Constructors' Championship but Dennis believes his team will be the first to break Mercedes current domination of Formula 1.
"I honestly believe that the next world champions after Mercedes will be McLaren. We'll get to that goal before other people.
"It is challenging but I have a firm belief in the technical competence of our people and a firm belief in Honda," said the 68-year-old.
McLaren re-established a new engine partnership with Honda last year, having previously worked together during the 1980s.
Since reforming the partnership their best result has been a fifth place finish in Hungary last year, scored by Fernando Alonso.
