Student Leftovers, LCFC Mural & Matthew Pietrzyk
Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.
Mattresses, fridges, vacuum cleaners - even a pool table. Just some of the household items found dumped outside student homes in Leicester. And those whose job it is to tidy up after these untidy residents and their landlords say it makes the neighbourhood look untidy. 大象传媒 Radio Leicester's Nisha Chopra has been on the look-out for rubbish with Leicester City Councillor for Clarendon Park, Patrick Kitterick - and it didn't take her long to find some.
Also, the eye-catching murals celebrating Leicester's recent football success have been widely welcomed and admired, hundreds of motorists every day pass the empirical figure of City Manager Claudio Ranieri on the approach to St Nicholas Circle for example. But proposals for a new one on a wall of the Newarke Houses Museum - not far away - have hit trouble. Tonight, the city council's planning committee will consider whether to approve a mural - celebrating LCFC's Thai owners - on the side of the Grade Two star listed building.
And, we are delighted to bring you some fantastic news this morning, which will really bring a smile to your face! Eleven years ago, we first brought you the story of a little boy from Leicestershire who was left without kidneys due to a rare genetic disease. It was a terrible shock for parents Craig and Nicola Pietrzyk, and they were dealt a further blow when a year later a kidney donated by Nicola to baby Matthew failed to take. It started a decade long campaign to find a fresh donor, whilst Matthew spent huge amounts of his life on dialysis. Well, the wait is, finally, over.
