The coach going to Rio thanks to crowdfunding campaign
A British Olympian's childhood coach will see him compete in Rio thanks to a crowdfunding page set up by their local sports club.
Dave Leach has been coaching British steeplechaser Rob Mullett since he was twelve, and this will be his first time competing in the Olympic Games.
When Dave discovered that Rob had been selected for Rio, he thought he'd have to stay home since his passport expired in 2006.
But Lewes Athletics Club set up a crowdfunding page for Dave and it's now raised over £5000.
Dave said "I've never been on a plane, I've only ever been on a ferry. This is a once in a lifetime thing […] I feel proud and absolutely amazed."
