A Levels, Glenfield & Sailing

Jonathan Lampon sits in alongside Jo to start your day with the latest news and updates.

Thousands of young people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland are getting ready to find out their A-Level results this morning. That means plenty of nervous nail biting, worried waiting, then either the elation or deflation of the actual grades. And that's just the parents!
So what do you remember of your own A-level results? 大象传媒 Radio Leicester's Danielle Hunt has been to Oakham to ask people there. Dale Neal is also out at Ashby School as students get their results.

Also, after weeks of anxiety, uncertainty and anger, NHS England bosses are finally coming to Leicester to hear the concerns of those connected to the children's heart unit at Glenfield Hospital. Last month it was announced that the internationally renowned- and much loved- cardiac department at Glenfield would no longer be supported by NHS England. Officials at the time said it was because it wasn't meeting certain standards, and wasn't likely that it would meet them in the future either. Well today those claims will be put to the test at a public meeting in Leicester - which senior NHS representatives will be attending.

And, Harborough sailor Dylan Fletcher is setting his sights on a medal in his final race at the Rio Olympics this afternoon - having sailed into medal contention on Tuesday. He will be competing at 5pm with team mate Alain Sign in the 49ers on the waters of Guanabara Bay. The pair are currently fourth overall, just 10 points behind the London 2012 gold medallists from Austrialia, currently in third and 13 points from the Germans in silver medal place. However, today's race is worth double points for every position so they are still within reach of a podium finish. A little closer to home today, Fletcher's local club, Rutland Sailing Club is inviting people along today to have a go at sailing and then watch the 49er Medal Race from the place where it all began for Dylan's sailing career at 5pm. We speak to long term friend and also a silver medal sailing Olympian, David Wilkins from Whissendine in Rutland.
