Notting Hill resident: Carnival 'Like a war'
A Notting Hill resident has described the atmosphere of the annual carnival as 'like a war happening outside' after a policeman sought refuge in his house during the "frightening, unmanaged free-for-all" street party.
Police made 454 arrests, four people were wounded in stabbings and eight police officers were taken to hospital at the event over the weekend.
Fasha has lived in the area for 15 years and says there's been a "huge increase in the negativity and violence" at the carnival over the past decade.
He says it's gone beyond the original "celebration of culture and identity" and wants to see future carnivals held in a controlled environment and not in the streets.
