Episode 1
The first of a two-part tribute to Humphrey Lyttelton. Guy Barker introduces a recording of Humphrey and Wynton Marsalis sharing their admiration of the great Louis Armstrong.
Another chance to hear the first of two programmes that were broadcast in 2013 to mark the 5th anniversary of the death of Humphrey Lyttelton. Trumpeter and composer Guy Barker introduces an as yet largely unheard recording of Humph and Wynton Marsalis expressing their joint admiration for the great Louis Armstrong. Across the generations they share their passion and respect for Armstrong and delve into just what made him the most influential of the early jazz pioneers. They swap favourite Louis recordings and stories and consider the effect he has had on them personally and on jazz in general.
