A former Icelandic Presidential candidate has told 大象传媒 5 live that when it comes to gender equality 鈥渋t鈥檚 not just a fight for women鈥檚 rights, it鈥檚 a fight for equal rights鈥�.

Thora Arnorsdottir, who ran for President in 2012, told Wake Up To Money鈥檚 Colletta Smith that while Iceland was one of the best places to be a woman in the world it was worth remembering 鈥渃hange鈥� was still needed to make males and females truly equal.

Iceland has topped the World Economics Forum's rankings of the best place to be a woman in the world for 7 years in a row, and more than 80% of the female population is in work. The country also has one of the smallest gender pay gaps, with women being paid 14% less than men on average.
