Hammond: I am abolishing stamp duty
The chancellor abolishes stamp duty on homes under 拢300,000 to help first-time buyers to be effective immediately.
And to help the more expensive areas, it will also be scrapped on the first 拢300,000 of the purchase price of homes up to 拢500,000.
Philip Hammond said the move would help 95% of all first-time buyers who pay stamp duty.
