Former striker Chris Sutton has dismissed criticism of Scottish football as "garbage".

Sutton was responding to questioning about Adam Rooney's decision to switch from Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen to National League team Salford City.

Sutton, who played for Celtic, Blackburn Rovers and Chelsea, says Rooney left because he couldn't hold down a place in the Aberdeen starting line-up, and believes people "down South" need to show more respect for the Scottish leagues.
