This traditional kind of beef stew has used paprika as a primary ingredient since the 16th Century, when the spice arrived in Hungary. This dish is a staple of the Hungarian diet, and much loved by the population who say it reminds them of their mothers’ home cooking, even when eaten in the best restaurants.
