Over her long reign, Queen Elizabeth II met more people than any monarch in history. In this tribute, we hear the cherished memories of just a few of the people who met the Queen.

Over her long reign, Queen Elizabeth II met more people than any monarch in history. She shook over a million hands and travelled the length and breadth of her kingdom, meeting people from all walks of life. In this intimate tribute we hear the much cherished memories of just a few of the people who met the Queen.

As far back as 1938, twins Alice and Jean Bushnell recall Princess Elizabeth and her sister Margaret visiting their village school in Craithie, Royal Deeside.

Brian Llewlyn still treasures the cup and saucer the Queen drank from when she visited the family council house on a royal tour of Newton Aycliffe New Town in 1960.

We hear from those who met the Queen during times of tragedy, at Aberfan after the terrible disaster there which touched the Queen so deeply, and after the 7/7 bombings when the nation looked to her for support as so often in times of national mourning.

A few of the 400,000 people who received awards and honours from Queen Elizabeth remember the excitement of receiving an invitation to Buckingham Palace.

From a fishmonger in Cork to prime ministers Tony Blair and David Cameron, the people in this personal and moving film will never forget their own special moments with the Queen.
