Thatcham Youth
 provides youth clubs, holiday activities and community outreach. They are looking for:Â
Social Media Volunteers – We are looking for volunteers to help run our social media pages. This includes our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Creating and delivering content to our followers in order to keep them up to date is essential, as well as working to build our audience and find opportunities to collaborate with other organisations.
School Holiday Activity Volunteers – We are looking for volunteers to help run out school holiday activities, this can range from a few hours helping to run a crafts session, stewarding a roller disco, managing a room of people during animal handling sessions, or a variety of roles during our family fun days. The role is varied and specifically based during the school holidays so is a great role for parents who want to help out!Â
ABC to Read
is an award winning charity supporting hundreds of primary school children in Berkshire each year who struggle to read. They're looking for volunteers to spend an hour per week work in a school close to where they live, or remotely, helping children to have fun with reading. Volunteers are supported by an ABC to read field worker, who has been a volunteer themselves.
Time to Talk West Berkshire
 is an independent charity providing free counselling services for young people aged between 11 and 25 in West Berkshire. They're looking for Young Ambassadors, who are under 25 and passionate about mental health, to share their stories and help promote the work the charity is doing.Home-Start Slough
is a family support service built on trusted relationships and rooted in the community. We are part of Home-Start UK, a federated network of around 160 local independent charities representing 16,000 volunteers that support 27,000 families and transform the lives of 56,000 children every year.Â
We have operated in Slough for 25 years. During this time, we have supported over 3,000 disadvantaged families with young children. Our aim is to empower families to cope with their challenges, thereby mitigating increases in health care and social care which reduces public costs.
Our main delivery support service is delivered 1:1 in the family home by trained volunteers who are parents themselves or involved in childcare. All volunteers are provided with universal initial training and ongoing support is delivered through our volunteer hub communities.Â
We have volunteering opportunities for home visiting volunteers, telephone befriending volunteers and female volunteers who are keen gardeners to support a new allotment project in Slough.
Berkshire Youth
 help with the transition from childhood to young adulthood, supporting young people to reach their full potential and make a positive contribution to their communities. We help young people through leisure activities, helping them to grow. Many of the young people we work with are vulnerable or disadvantaged and unable to access help elsewhere.Working closely with the team at Berkshire Youth, our volunteers have the opportunity to get involved in a number of different roles including:
Fundraising and administration
Youth work within schools and detached youth work
Youth work within community youth clubs
Leadership and group work programmes with young people
Trustee and committee opportunities
Marketing and raising awareness opportunities
Girlguiding Royal Berkshire
 is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. We build girls' confidence and raise their aspirations. Thanks to the dedication and support of our volunteers, we give girls and young women a space where they can be themselves, have fun and gain valuable life skills. We give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force to good.ÂAs a unit leader, assistant leader or leader-in-training you’ll join a team of volunteers to run the unit, plan meetings, and deliver awesome activities to Rainbows, Brownies or Guides.
Our Girlguiding programme is inclusive and accessible and can have you doing pizza making one week, discussing environmental issues the next and maybe ending the term by learning how to DJ!!! You will need to be able to communicate with the girls, you will be confident to talk to parents and you will be a good team player with the rest of your unit and district.
Girlguiding not only provides girls new opportunities but our leaders gain new friends and new skills!
Berkshire Scouts
supports Scouting in more than a hundred communities across Berkshire providing fun, challenge and adventure for around 8,000 young people aged 6 to 25. From coding to camping, abseiling to zorbing – we do it all and as a volunteer you can join in the fun!
As a volunteer, we offer you training, career skills, and a great chance to improve your CV. There’s also plenty of support from fellow volunteers and the chance to meet new people. The most important part is that it’s fun and incredibly rewarding.
We are looking for enthusiastic, fun seeking volunteers who enjoy getting out and about and learning new skills. No experience required!
Starting Point
 works with disadvantaged young people in Reading. It provides mentoring and guidance to help them get into education and employment. They're looking for:ÂVolunteer Mentor - Mentoring a young person for an hour a week on of our following programmes.
Aspire Mentoring - Supports young people aged 15-25 to attain, sustain and thrive within education, employment, and training.
Advance Mentoring -Â Supports young people aged 11-9 to thrive inside and outside of education.
Aware Mentoring - Supports young people aged 11 - 25 who are at risk of exploitation, offending or youth violence.
A&E Navigator - Providing support for young people aged 13-24 in the Royal Berkshire Hospital A&E involved in violence or risk taking behaviour.
Other Opportunities - Use your skills to benefit young people or the project as whole. This can be one off support sessions, workshops, resource development or skill sharing.
Me2 Club
tackles the social isolation and loneliness experienced by young people with additional needs and disabilities who are excluded from the mainstream leisure activities they love.Â
We need volunteer ‘buddies’ to help young people in Reading and Wokingham at their weekly activities to make friends, increase their confidence and independence. By building a relationship with one of our young people you can help them overcome their barriers to be included in activities like swimming lessons, uniform groups, sports clubs and drama groups. Our experienced staff team run our comprehensive Volunteer Induction Training where you will learn more about your role, responsibilities and any extra skills you might need. You will be fully supported throughout your journey with the award winning Me2 Club.
We are also looking for Fundraising Friends volunteers to help at community events such as stalls. However much time you have there is a volunteering role for you.
