‘The way we breathe is indicative of how we feel about life’
When people are stressed or anxious - which a lot of us are at the moment - we're often told to take some deep breaths to help us relax. It's nothing new, of course. There are writings from China and India that are over two thousand years old extolling the virtues of controlled breathing for mental, physical and spiritual health. There's a real resurgence in these ideas at the moment, mostly going by the name of 'breathwork'. So what is it? And how can it be used to improve our mental state? Rebecca Dennis tells Anita Rani how to breathe better.
