Bogus tradesmen now make up a fifth of suspected cons reported to consumer charity Citizens Advice — the highest proportion since May 2019 and Trading Standards is warning of a sharp rise in doorstep scams in some areas of the UK. Former copper Rav Wilding runs through some of the most common dupes tricking people out of cash RIGHT NOW, including one where fraudsters are using fake pictures to scam you into getting work on your home.

He shares his tips to keeping unwanted callers in the cold, including how a doorbell could help you keep your vulnerable relatives safe from scammers.
