Kawarau Bridge: Bungee's first commercial site
Kawarau Bridge is the site of the first permanent commercial bungee jumping operation, having opened in 1988.
Pioneer AJ Hackett talks about how he and his friends saw videos of Oxford University students taking part in the activity. Which was inspired by the ritual of land-diving in Vanuatu.
After trying it out themselves, they brought it to the paying public at the bridge near Queenstown in New Zealand. AJ talks to Josephine McDermott who tried it for herself more than 20 years ago.
