Why a good friendship can help you live longer
A recent study found that over 50s with good friendships were 24% likely to live longer. As part of National Friendship Month, life coach Mavis Ackerley finds out the science behind the personal bonds we form with each other - including mental benefits such as helping to lower rates of depression, but also the physical benefits meaning you're more likely to heal faster after an illness. Plus, she visits an organisation that helps people to forge new friendships to find out how it's helped them.
