Chronic UTIs: ‘It’s invisible, nobody can see the pain’
Over 1.6 million women in Britain suffer from chronic lower urinary tract symptoms.
Chronic urinary tract infections (UTIs) are infections which keep coming back. They are painful, debilitating and in some cases can lead to very serious life-threatening conditions, like sepsis.
Anyone can get UTI, but they are more commons in women and girls.
Joanne McKinlay has suffered with chronic UTIs for 20 years.
Speaking to 5 Live’s Naga Munchetty, Joanne said that she was in “excruciating pain”.
“It ruins relationships, friendships.”
Joanne highlighted that “it’s invisible and that “nobody can see the pain”.
“Never judge a book by its cover.”
