Polar Preet on why she's challenging herself to travel solo to the North Pole
Preet Chandi MBE, better known as Polar Preet, has broken several world records, including in 2023 when she made the longest solo and unsupported journey across Antarctica.
Now she’s set her sights on her most difficult challenge yet – hoping to become the first woman to travel solo to the North Pole.
She’s due to set off in March from Ellesmere Island in Canada - the most northern point she can get to - before facing a maze of icy terrain, climbing blocks that could be 20m high and even crossing stretches of open water. Only two people have done this in history.
She joined Anita Rani to explain why she wants to take on the challenge, despite estimating she has a 5% chance of being successful, and why she’s not afraid of failure.
