Asad Ahmad

Biography

Asad is a Royal Television Society award winning reporter and a BAFTA nominated presenter for News Programme of the Year. He has reported from around the world and is currently a lead presenter for 大象传媒 London television news.

In 2024, ten months after launching his new weekly radio show on 大象传媒 Radio London, Asad won the Radio Presenter of the Year award at the national Asian Media Awards. It was the first time the honour had been awarded within a year of a presenter hosting a new show.
Prior to joining the 大象传媒, Asad worked in banking as a Foreign Exchange Dealer before going to the Houses of Parliament, to be a researcher in the House of Lords.

After his Law degree, Asad won a place on the 大象传媒 News Trainee Scheme. Within months, he was working at 大象传媒 Birmingham as a Political Reporter and presenter. He headed to Scotland for his next move, becoming the 大象传媒’s Scotland Correspondent. This was coupled with anchoring Newsnight Scotland, the 大象传媒’s Reporting Scotland and presenting on Radio Scotland. During this busy period Asad also travelled weekly to London to present 大象传媒 Breakfast and the 大象传媒 News Channel.

In 2008 Asad suffered a serious motorcycle accident sustaining a head and brain injury. His overall recovery has been described by one of the world’s leading neurosurgeons as “miraculous”. Asad often uses a walking stick to assist with balance, however his passion to constantly challenge himself sees him regularly sea kayaking in Scotland and indoor climbing in London, albeit with safety precautions in place.

Asad is an Ambassador for His Majesty the King’s Mosaic charity, now part of the King’s Trust. He is an Ambassador for His Majesty’s British Asian Trust. Asad is an alumnus of the United States International Visitor Leadership programme and a Member of Mensa.
