Cold Committee
Two and a half years ago, there were rumours of a great, young, guitar-toting band - from the classic, laddish four-piece mould - who were writing fine songs that belied their years; a band from the northeast Wales coast who seasoned local promoters and bloggers felt were the best chance to make a positive name for their frequently-overlooked part of the world.

Catfish and the Bottlemen have fairly exploded onto the scene since then, but it’s not them (great as they are) that were being talked about. The band who were the subject of all these excited whispers were Prestatyn / Rhyl’s Cold Committee.
The first demos rang with more than potential; the songwriting was already assured, hinting at excellence to come. And so it has proved. Their debut EP, released in 2014, earned airplay on 大象传媒 Radio 1 and Radio Wales. They have supported the likes of Miles Kane and Superfood, and went to Italy to support Beady Eye. The selfies from that trip - Cold Committee hanging out with Liam - are symbolic of a baton being passed from one generation to another.
Cold Committee take some of the influences of their forebears, The Beatles / The Who / Oasis / Arctic Monkeys et al, but bring enough of themselves along, in the scope of their fine songs, to make their band much more than an exercise in retro classicism.
