Craig Hale
Hale had an unconventional childhood growing up in a number of foster homes. As a teenager he became a punk during the Thatcher years and took to living in squats.
After six months living on the edge, he was arrested for possession of drugs, but was lucky enough to come into contact with a good cop. A father figure, he managed to persuade Hale that he could make a difference in the world. He was the least likely candidate for the police service but armed with strong character testimonials, he was accepted and his life suddenly had drive and purpose.
Hale brought with him into the force his natural street sense and a keen understanding of the behaviour that drives many criminals. He also brought with him a socialist attitude to privilege and wealth which still drives him. When Hale worked with Eve in the past, he found her commitment matched his own. He missed her and surprises himself with how excited he is to be working with her again.
We don鈥檛 know what Hale鈥檚 expectations of the Farm were at the outset, but he probably didn鈥檛 expect to find a sense of place, family and home. Miraculously, he has.
