Vic Galloway
Vic Galloway presents 大象传媒 Radio Scotland's indie music show every Monday evening
After attending his first live concert by The Damned in 1985, Vic became obsessed with music, record collecting, silly haircuts and all the trappings of a teenage rocker... much to his mother's dismay.
On leaving school in 1990, Vic immersed himself in rock鈥檔鈥檙oll. He formed a band, and busked his way around Europe for six months. Vic also worked on the other side of the music industry - writing for fanzines, setting up independent labels, and working as press and radio promoter.
His journey into radio presenting was unforeseen. When prompted to make a tape in 1999 for a new regional Radio 1 show he obliged and, to his surprise, got the job. From 1999 until 2010 he presented weekly new-music shows on Radio 1.
Other jobs in 大象传媒 radio over the years include presenting outside broadcasts from festivals like T in the Park, SXSW, Indian Summer, and Live 8; plus a ton of national shows on 大象传媒 Radio 1, and deputising for the Marc Riley Show on 大象传媒 6Music. On 大象传媒 Radio Scotland, he fronted two weekly series of Mouthing Off and The Big Scottish Adventure, plus various documentary series including Indie-pendent Scotland, The Banned History of rock'n'roll, Meet the Neighbours, Monster on your Doorstep and School for Genius.
Vic's TV work includes six years of T in the Park coverage; hosting The Music Show on 大象传媒 Two; 大象传媒 Four鈥檚 Caledonia Dreaming; and Channel 4鈥檚 Transmission. In June 2012 he presented a 大象传媒 Two documentary on the South by South West festival in Austin, Texas for the 鈥楢rtworks鈥 series.
As a freelance journalist, Vic regularly contributes to broadsheets, magazines and websites. 锘縃e is currently writing his first book on music, Songs in the Key of Fife, about the East Neuk scene.
Vic is often invited to host and MC music events and awards ceremonies, and has compered Edinburgh鈥檚 legendary Hogmanay celebrations for three years running. As a club DJ, he has played in student unions, festivals and clubs across the UK and Europe. On top of that he also writes, performs and produces music of his own.
Vic lives in Edinburgh, likes getting tattooed, eats spicy food and wants World peace!
