Dr Kirstie Anderson

锘緾onsultant Neurologist and Honorary senior lecturer, Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals.

锘緿r Anderson heads the Regional Neurology Sleep Service in Newcastle within one of the biggest sleep units in the country. Dr Anderson has extensive clinical and research experience and treats the whole gamut of sleep disorders.

She maintains that even complex problems such as insomnia, Circadian Rhythm Disorder, parasomnia and Nocturnal eating syndrome can be treated by medical and behavioural therapies used in the home and bedroom.

Dr Jason Ellis

Psychologist and Director of the Northumbria Centre for Sleep Research.

Dr Ellis is an insomnia expert and recently set up his own sleep lab in Northumbria. He utilises equipment including PSG, EEG and Actigraphy to monitor sleep both in-lab and remotely. He is actively involved in research in the UK, Europe, United States and Canada.

Dr Ellis uses CBT-I (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Insomnia) to treat insomnia - a very practical and visual way to address physical, mental and emotional behaviours associated with sleep problems, for example a standard tool for insomnia is to put the patient on a sleep rescheduling programme. He is also actively researching how to prevent insomnia and other sleep problems such as jet-lag.
