HAIM may be a three Californian sisters in a pop group now, but it wasn't always that way.

Originally they were part of a band with their parents called Rockinhaim. Now, despite the occasional gig with their mum and dad (there's no hard feelings), the siblings are one of the most talked about tips for next year.

Their influences range from TLC to Britney, Destiny's Child to The Strokes - all of which they channel into their slick brand of rock.

Este, Alana and Danielle Haim are well connected too - they spent the latter half of 2012 touring with friends Mumford & Sons in the US and also recently joined Florence & the Machine on the road.

They've got one previous Sound Of list winner impressed. Ellie Goulding recently described them as "interesting, different and really talented."

Radio 1's Fearne Cotton has already awarded them her record of the week and had support from 大象传媒 6 Music. They'll release their debut album in 2013.
