Who are you and what do you play in The Horne Section?

Hi, I’m Will Collier and I am the bass player.

Two years ago I decided never to move again. Since then I’ve never looked back.

If you each had a nickname (a bit like the Spice Girls), which ‘Horne’ would you be?

I think I’d like to be 'Toilet Horne' (my initials are WC).

Do you have a signature move? What is it?

Two years ago I decided never to move again. Since then I’ve never looked back.

How were you recruited for The Horne Section?

I had a bath with Joe.

What did you do before you joined the group?

Before joining the Horne section I was a bass player.

What are the best and worst gigs you’ve ever played?

One of my worst gigs was playing jazz on St Patrick’s day in a rough Irish pub. We didn’t know any Irish music so they hated every minute. One of my best was last night [at the Edinburgh Festival); The Horne Section with Jimmy Cricket.

You must have spent a lot of time with the rest of the band. Do any of them have any strange and disturbing habits you could share with us?

Joe’s snoring should get a special mention here. You can hear it from the other side of our house (we all live together). I once did a gig with a seven-piece band and the accommodation only had two rooms, because of his snoring Joe had a room to himself and the other six squeezed into the other.

What’s the most divine piece of music your ears have ever encountered?

Steve Reich’s Music for 18 musicians at the Barbican a few years ago. Instant standing ovation. Awesome.

As part of The Horne Section, you must have worked with some pretty excellent comedians – can you tell us about some of those?

Jimmy Cricket guesting with us - what a legend. We had quite a contemporary audience, but he was so funny he won them all over and brought the house down. And there’s more; he also played Tequila on the sax!

Finally, are you seeking world domination and how will you know when you’ve achieved it?

Not really. No.
