Richard Simmonds

Richard was born and raised in Monmouth and still lives there with his wife and daughter. For the past 23 years, he has worked in cardboard box factory making heavy duty boxes for such clients as Rolls Royce and Bentley.

He used to play a lot of rugby and is a keen fan of the sport. He also likes horse racing and poker and enjoys travelling. Another passion of his is singing - he loves karaoke, had karaoke at his wedding and when he gets a chance to go out, he will usually head to a pub with karaoke on.

I don鈥檛 usually do this kind of thing 鈥� I work in a factory.

Richard knows what he likes and what he doesn鈥檛 like when it comes to art and has strong views on some contemporary art - 鈥渁 half-pickled cow is a total waste of money and time.鈥�

He likes landscapes, wildlife, Lowry and names The Card Players by Cezanne as one of his favourite paintings - liking the grey/blue colours and the fact that it portrays a half-bottle of wine and a card game! Richard is a big fan of sculptures and recently enjoyed the Forest of Dean sculpture trail - 鈥淎mazing what they can do with a chainsaw鈥hings I couldn鈥檛 even draw!鈥�
