Comic and actor Michael Smiley was born in Belfast and grew up in Holywood. He began doing stand-up in 1993, after accepting a bet at an open-mic night and has gone on to tour the world to critical and public acclaim.

He became known in the UK for his legendary role as Tyres O'Flaherty the bicycle riding raver in the classic Simon Pegg and Jessica Stephenson sitcom Spaced and re-visited a Zombie version of the character in 鈥

Michael has become one of our most sought after acting talents. In 2010 he had a major role in the film Burke & Hare, also starring Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson. He is a regular character in opposite Idris Elba from The Wire.

Smiley鈥檚 successful acting career continues to flourish and building on the critical acclaim for his roles in cult movies like 鈥溾 and 鈥溾 one of his latest projects includes co-starring alongside Jude Law in 鈥溾 directed by Oscar winner Kevin Macdonald and is expected to be released in UK cinemas later this year. Michael is such a gifted storyteller and charismatic performer that when he talks about growing up in Northern Ireland it鈥檚 totally infectious. And when he鈥檚 not acting, writing or performing stand-up, Smiley is also keen cyclist and will be seen pedalling around the six counties in a brand new 大象传媒 One Northern Ireland factual entertainment series produced by Green Inc to be broadcast later in 2014.
