Semi-final Adjudicator
Jessica Cottis is fast gaining a reputation as one of the most promising conductors of her generation. From 2009 to 2011 she was the first Fellow in Conducting at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Assistant Conductor at the 大象传媒 Scottish Symphony Orchestra. She made her 大象传媒 Proms debut in 2010.
Jessica's international career was launched through close working relationships with her mentors Vladimir Ashkenazy, Charles Dutoit, and Donald Runnicles. Appointed Assistant Conductor of the Sydney Symphony in 2012, she conducts the orchestra for over thirty concerts per year. Jessica divides her time between Australia and Britain, with recent and future engagements as guest conductor including debuts with Opera Australia, Scottish Opera, the Philharmonia and the Adelaide, Queensland and New Zealand symphony orchestras.
Jessica was awarded a first class honours degree from the Australian National University and continued her studies as an organist in Paris. A hand injury subsequently halted her playing career and she began studying conducting at the Royal Academy of Music where she graduated in 2009 with the top conducting prizes. Since 2007 she continues as Artistic Director of Bloomsbury Opera.
