Local boy Owen Vaughan grew up on a rough, tough housing estate in Caernarfon. Nothing ever came easy for him. He had to fight for everything, often with his fists. But he knew he had to escape, so he fought his way out.
Vaughan joined the police for lots of reasons. One of them is so that people like him might, for once, get listened to.
Deep down, Vaughan has an impulse to self-destruct; an urge to desecrate his achievements and the new life he has made for himself. His inferiority complex is woven into his DNA and infects all his relationships – including with his pregnant girlfriend, Sam, a young solicitor.
