LEAH COHEN: born 1936 in Hoxton, the only daughter of Sammy Cohen a tailor. Leah has educational ambitions to put her innate intelligence to good effect, training first as a nurse at Bart's Hospital, then going to university to study psychology. This is following an unhappy interlude when Ronnie and Reggie Kray captured her and make her work as a girl prostitute. Perhaps a greater misfortune was Jack Braden beating them up and rescuing her. He falls in love with her and dotes on her and eventually forces her into a relationship with him after his nephew Brian badly beats her and rejects her.

Later in life she meets up with Brian when she's a visiting psychologist at his prison. She has great belief in redemption in the right circumstances. She believes these are the right circumstances and helps Brian get his parole.
