British PM Goes Back to Brexit Negotiating Table

Theresa May will ask for ‘alternative arrangements’ to the Irish backstop.

On Tuesday British Prime Minister Theresa got the support of parliament to return to the European Union and ask for a change to the Brexit withdrawal agreement. She's been mandated to ask for 'alternative arrangements' to the Irish backstop, which guarantees there wouldn’t be a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

In Japan, a growing number of elderly people are going to prison. Almost 20% of its prison population is now over 60.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe has appointed a taskforce to look into alleged human rights abuses by soldiers in the aftermath of elections last year.
