US imposes sanctions on Turkey

President Trump also phoned President Erdogan to demand an immediate truce.

Turkey is a NATO ally of the United States, but in the political turmoil created by president Trump's decision to withdraw US forces from the Kurdish held region of Northeast of Syria, the US has imposed sanctions on Turkey, threatening to destroy its economy unless it stops its offensive against Kurdish forces.

Also on the programme, elections take place today in Mozambique. The campaign has been marred by violence and killings. We'll also go to Sofia to gauge the aftermath of last nights football match between Bulgaria and England in which racist chants from Bulgarian fans repeatedly broke out.
